Terps Win Again 93-68

Well it looked hairy in the beginning as Xavier jumped out to a 10-6 lead, but then 19 points later, the Terps were up by 15 and never looked back. Shay scored her 1,000th career point early in the first half and was one of four players in double figures as the team now heads to the Virgin Islands to play Gonzaga, Michigan State and Tennessee. This three-game adventure should give us a strong indication of whether we deserved to be ranked this high. I am looking for at least a 2-1 trip.

Positives

  • Another solid offensive effort. Any time you score over 90 against a team that has been battle tested it's a great sign.
  • 24 assists on 38 baskets is great.
  • outrebounded another opponent by 20 with 5 people grabbing at least 5
  • another team effort. Everyone who dressed scored and grabbed at least two rebounds.
  • Shot over 50% again
  • made 70% of our free throws, which shows progress from the exhibition and season opener.
  • We made stops when we needed to and answered their runs with a run of our own.

    Negatives
  • The help defense wasn't that great as Xavier made a ton of easy lay ups in the second half. I am sure the coaching staff will work on this.
  • Once again 10+ turnovers. This will not work against the top teams.
  • We seemed to fall out of rhythym at certain points and just go down the court and shoot the ball. Luckily Brenda corrected this problem right away.
