Terps Use Overtime Again to Take Title Away From Duke

Duke really has to be sick and tired of playing us in Championship games. First there was April 2006 where they were hoping to take home their first-ever National Title and then there was March 2009 where they were looking to win the ACC title again. Unfortunately, both games went to overtime and to quote the title of Brenda's book "Overtime is Our Time." Both games wouldn't have went to OT if not for some amazing game-tying shots. We all know about KT's shot and if Duke won, we would have all known about Black's tip in.

In the end, we withstood the Duke pressure and some key three-point misses by Abby Waner and Joy Cheek (yes, Joy Cheek) and who is standing on the line with the Terps leading by 1? Only a player who coming into this weekend had played 56 minutes and scored 43 points all year, but she was wearing #22 and Shay's spirit must have shown through as Kim Rodgers calmy sank both free throws. After a long 3 and a jump ball, Maryland was ACC Champions for the first time since 1989.

While Marissa deserved MVP honors, Kim should get a share of it as she played 56 minutes and scored 30 points this weekend, most of which was needed as Marah slumped until a five-minute stretch in the middle of the second half.

We played fantastic and made stops when we had to. Plus, we didn't let the refs affect us as much as it normally would.

Enjoy the win while I make a manicure appointment and try to get She Can Play out of my head.

Kim Rodgers, are you kidding me!? We see you Kim... Marissa Coleman will not be denied.

Congratulations Terps.

Re: She Can Play. LOL. Glad it's not just me.

Marissa was my ACC POY as well as my ACC MVP, but Kim was a big reason everyone got a piece of the net on Sunday.

Full credit to Damian Horne for capitalizing on a moment but did we really need to be beaten over the head with the song?

From the Post; Coleman referred to Rodgers, who averaged 10 points in the three games, as "the hero of the tournament." No doubt. Classy of Marissa too. Not to mention what it means actually having a bench going into the Tournament.

Go Terps!
